Sometimes it helps to have a fairy godmother to weave a little magic.
That's why Bedford Stuyvesant resident and entrepreneur Bernice Malone has been busily collecting hundreds of donated formal gowns that she hopes will help ease the financial burden on city prom-goers and their families.
"With the economy and a lot of families not working, weddingdresses weddingdresses prom is really expensive," Malone said. "At least by getting a girl a dress and shoes and accessories, one shoulder wedding dresses it helps offset the whole thing."

"I had a great time at my prom," said Malone, who grew up in Connecticut. "It's one of the biggest social events in a teen's life and I think everyone should have the opportunity to attend."
Malone's event and others like it are a boon for cash-strapped teens like Amanda Echevarria, 17 short wedding dressesdiscount summer dresses discount summer dresses, a senior at University Neighborhood High School who said she's bound for Pennsylvania State University in the fall.
