Kristen Zonar Petersen was a star soccer player during her days as a Lady Eagle varsity performer. Zonar Petersen is one of five to represent the Class of 2011 in the North Olmsted High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

That’s who North Olmsted High School will be honoring Saturday night when the brightest of stars from the athletic program’ bridal bridesmaid dresses ;s historic past reunite for a truly special evening . North Olmsted will officially induct five new members into the school’s athletic Hall of Fame. The Class of 2011 features Dennis Dobos (1975), Frank Brown (1983), Kristen Zonar Petersen (1989), wedding gown designers wedding gown designers Bill Orr (1976) and John Steele (1973).

“This will be another great evening,” said North Olmsted High School Athletic Director Tim Carras . “This evening has been a long time coming for these deserving people who over the years graced the athletic fields of North Olmsted High School. We look forward to honoring five special people on Saturday night who so richly deserve this recognition.”

Dobos was an outstanding track and field athlete for the Eagles. He became a state qualifier in the 800-meter race, while also becoming a Southwestern Conference champion in that event. Dobos was also a SWC champion in the 1,600-meter relay establishing a conference record, while he set school records in the 1,600, 3,200, the sprint medley and the distance medley.

The positive impact that the North Olmsted High School track and field program had on Dobos is evident.

“ davids bridal dresses cheap ;My time at North Olmsted High School allowed me the opportunity to develop the ability to set and achieve goals,” he said. “With the exception being my parents, Coach Bruce Peepers had the greatest impact on my life. He may not have realized it, but Coach Peepers, in an unwavering way, created the motivation in me to realize my full potential as a track athlete. He opened my door to future athletic and professional success.”

Upon his graduation from North Olmsted High School, Dobos attended the University of Akron where he lettered in track and cross country. He was also a member of the dean’s list.

Dobos is an attorney and adjunct professor living in Fairview Park.

Brown was a three-year letter winner on the Eagles’ varsity soccer team. He earned first team All-Southwestern Conference, All-Greater Cleveland and All-Sun News honors, while Brown was a member of the North Olmsted state semifinalist teams in 1980, 1981 and 1982 with his Eagle teams compiling an overall record of 64-5-3.

Brown, who graduated from North Olmsted with a 3.8 grade point average and a class ranking of No. 9 out of 560 students, attended Gannon University where he helped the school more than put the soccer program back on the athletic map.

At Gannon, Brown achieved All-Western Pennsylvania Conference, All-Region and Academic All-American honors, while being named captain and Most Valuable Player of his 1986 team. He also ranks as Gannon’s 9th all-time leading scorer, while being No. 11 all-time in points scored.

Brown is also appreciative of the education he received at North Olmsted High School.

Those people are still my best friends today.”

Brown lives in Avon and is employed by the U.S. Treasury Department as a special agent. He still plays competitive soccer, but really enjoys coaching his three sons in youth soccer leagues.

Zonar Petersen was a four-year letter winner in soccer, while considered to be one of the more well-rounded student-athletes to ever walk the halls at North Olmsted High School.

An individual who truly believed in getting involved with school projects, Zonar Petersen was a member of the track team, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes baby bridal dresses baby bridal dresses, Student Council and a member of the school’s Homecoming Court all four years. She was crowned North Olmsted’s Homecoming Queen in 1988.

In soccer, Zonar Petersen was All-SWC, the league’s Most Valuable Player, an All-Greater Cleveland player, the Greater Cleveland “Player of the Year,” first team All-Ohio, All-Mideast, All-Northeast Ohio and an All-American selection during her days on the field with the Lady Eagles.

Her 100 goals scored in a career is still the North Olmsted High School record, while ranking first in total points with 223 and sixth overall in assists.

“ colored wedding dresses ;I’m very thankful that my teachers and coaches at North Olmsted believed in my abilities,” said Zonar Petersen. “They were always very encouraging. Mrs. Mengert and Coach Reser were two of the most influential people at the high school.”

Zonar Petersen remains active in PTO as a middle school secretary, bridesmaids gowns bridesmaids gowns an elementary assistant treasurer, a neighborhood treasurer, and enjoys spending time coaching her children’s youth soccer games. She lives in Hilliard, Ohio with her family.

Orr was another gifted athlete to proudly wear the colors of North Olmsted High. A versatile performer, Orr competed in track and football. In fact, one of his fondest memories was his very first pass reception in a high school football game-a 49-yard touchdown against Bay.

In track, though, Orr really excelled. He would wind up or setting or was a part of several record-setting performances and championships. Orr was the first North Olmsted track athlete to break 10 seconds in the 100-yard dash, while earning Southwestern Conference championship honors regarding the 100, 200 and the 400-meter relay.

He was the school record holder in the 100, 400 and the 1,600 relay, while being named the MVP at the prestigious Warrensville Tiger Relays.

Orr continued his education and track career at Baldwin-Wallace College. As a four-year letter winner, he became the Greater Cleveland College Champion in the 200-meters and participated on 10 different indoor/outdoor championship squads.

Orr vividly remembers those precious words he read in the North Olmsted handbook his first week of school.

“Education is a lifelong process,” he recalled. “I’ve taken those words to heart and tried to incorporate such a thought as one of my lifelong philosophies.”

Steele was certainly one of the more multi-talented student-athletes in the history of North Olmsted High School and is one of a select few to be able to claim playing on a Southwestern Conference championship team in football, basketball and baseball.

Steele was an outstanding infielder on the diamond. He was a three-time All-SWC selection, was a member of The Plain Dealer All-Scholastic team, while being named to the All-Region and All-Ohio baseball teams to put the exclamation point on a great scholastic baseball career.

In football, he was truly a man of “Steele” in playing a variety of positions on the field. Steele starred as a wide receiver, defensive back and running back. He was named to the All-SWC team. All-Northeast Ohio team and was also a Plain Dealer All-Scholastic performer on the gridiron. And for his efforts, Steele was recruited by many Ivy League schools, but decided to accept a football scholarship from Georgia Tech.

As a Yellow Jacket, he excelled both in the classroom and on the football field. Steele qualified for the dean’s list every academic quarter of his collegiate career, while lettering in football for three years en route to becoming Georgia Tech’s leading receiver during his senior season.

Steele graduated at the top of his class from Georgia Tech receiving his masters degree and later attended the Cleveland Marshall Law School.

Steele married his high school sweetheart Helen and has two children living in Virginia.

The accomplishments of these talented individuals more than gives the North Olmsted City Schools so many reasons to be proud. It will truly be a special Saturday night when the stars from the past will shine brightly to light the way for the students of today at North Olmsted High School seeking the most promising of futures.
